Laredo Thrift & Center for Creative Reuse is being established with the goal of creating accessible, sustainable solutions that benefit the entire Laredo community, with a particular focus on supporting low- to moderate-income individuals and families.

As a startup nonprofit organization, we are currently building the foundation needed to begin operations and create long-term community impact. Funding and sponsorship support will assist us in securing a dedicated space and developing programs designed to increase access to affordable clothing, essential resources, sustainability education, and creative reuse opportunities.

Once operational, our organization plans to provide a pay-by-pound thrift store model that makes clothing and textiles more affordable and accessible for community members of all income levels. By keeping usable textiles in circulation rather than sending them to landfills, we aim to provide affordable resources while reducing waste and promoting responsible consumption.

In addition to affordable retail access, we plan to support community members in need through partnerships and donations of rescued clothing, blankets, and other textile resources to local and national human shelters, animal shelters, mutual aid organizations, and community groups.

Our future community space will also serve as a flexible gathering and learning environment where individuals can participate in educational workshops, classes, and skill-building opportunities focused on sustainability and creative reuse. Planned programming includes clothing repair, mending, upcycling, textile crafts, and other practices that empower individuals to extend the life of their belongings while developing valuable skills.
